"Bot lobby" gets used for three or four different things, some of which will get your account actioned. Worth knowing which one you are buying.

What a bot lobby is here

A host fills a private match so that the opposition is bots rather than players. You join on your own account and play it like a normal game. Kills, weapon XP, score and challenge progress all count to your account, because it is your account doing them.

Nothing is installed on your machine. No software touches your account. You are playing Call of Duty, against opponents who are not very good.

What it is not

  • It is not a glitch. Posts promising a matchmaking trick that drops you into easy public lobbies come and go, and they mostly stopped working or never worked. You do not need one.
  • It is not a cheat or a mod. No third-party software is used on your account.
  • It is not account sharing. Nobody signs in as you. You never send a login.
  • It is not reverse boosting. Deliberately tanking your own stats to manipulate matchmaking is its own thing, and it is the behaviour Activision has actioned accounts for in past titles.

What an hour actually gets you

More than a normal hour of multiplayer, and less than the numbers on some sales pages. What it is genuinely good for:

  • Weapon XP. Consistent engagements mean a gun moves far faster than it does in public lobbies where you are fighting for every kill.
  • Kill-count camo challenges. Anything that just wants volume goes quickly.
  • Score and level progress on the way to 55 and beyond.

What it is worse at:

  • Challenges with awkward conditions. Anything asking for specific circumstances still has to happen.
  • Anything mode-locked. A DMZ or Warzone camo is not going to progress in a Multiplayer lobby.

Before you book, work out which of those your goal actually is. If most of what is left on your camo is volume, an hour goes a long way. If it is conditional challenges, it goes less far.

Why the Activision ID is the only thing we need

The invite has to reach you, and your Activision ID is the address it goes to. That is the whole reason it is asked for.

It is also a useful test when you are comparing sellers. A bot lobby does not need your password, your email, or your 2FA codes, because you are the one in the lobby. A seller asking for those is asking for access they do not need to do the job, and an email address with recovery access is a much bigger thing to hand over than a Call of Duty account.

FAQ

What is a bot lobby in MW4?

A private match filled so the opposition is bots. You join it on your own account and keep everything you earn: kills, weapon XP, score and camo challenge progress.

Is a bot lobby the same as a glitch?

No. A glitch is a trick that manipulates matchmaking, and the ones that circulate tend to stop working. A bot lobby is a match a host sets up and invites you to.

Do bot lobbies work for Warzone and DMZ camos?

No. Progress is mode-specific, so a Multiplayer lobby moves Multiplayer challenges. Check which mode your camo belongs to in the mastery camo list before you book.

Can bot lobbies get me banned?

No one can honestly promise they cannot. Activision does not allow boosting or account sharing, and it can suspend, ban or reset accounts that break its rules. Bot lobbies keep you away from the riskiest part of that, because you play on your own account and never hand a login to anyone, but the risk is not zero. Our Terms of Service say the same thing, and you take that risk on when you order.
