MW4 Mastery Camos: All Nine, by Mode

Modern Warfare 4 has nine mastery camos, three for each of its three modes. Here is the full list, which order they come in, and what is actually settled about the requirements.

The ladder before the mastery camos

Mastery camos are the end of a long chain, not the start of one. On the way, every weapon goes through:

1. 8 Military camos
2. 3 Special camos
3. Gold
4. Platinum
5. Harmonic Break

Then Divergence, the final Completionist camo, which unlocks once Harmonic Break is done on all 33 launch weapons. That is an account-wide gate rather than a per-gun one, and it is the point most people underestimate.

Only after that do the mode mastery camos open up.

Multiplayer

Three tiers, and they unlock in this order:

1. Mercurial Drift, the first Multiplayer mastery camo.
2. Polyatomic Reforged, which needs Mercurial Drift on the weapon. An updated take on the Polyatomic from Modern Warfare II and III.
3. Orion Reforged, the last tier, which needs Polyatomic Reforged. Same idea: a return of the Orion name.

DMZ

Also three, also in order:

1. Chiral
2. Ripple Tide
3. Helio, the final DMZ mastery camo. Chiral and Ripple Tide are what open its challenge.

Warzone

• Damascus Reforged
• Empyros
• Parallax

The Warzone challenge requirements were still unpublished across the sources we checked in launch week, which makes sense given Warzone does not take on Modern Warfare 4 content until Season 1.

About the challenge requirements

This is where to be careful. The camo names and the Multiplayer order are consistent everywhere. The specific numbers are not.

Figures circulated in launch week for the Multiplayer tiers, along the lines of a set number of multi-kill matches per tier, and they disagree between sources. Some guides state them flatly, others say the exact requirements have not been published. Activision has also adjusted camo requirements after launch in past titles.

So: treat any specific number you read, including on this page, as provisional until you see it in your own game. The reliable move is to open the camo screen on the weapon you care about, which shows you the real requirement for your version of the game.

Counting to thirteen

Some guides list thirteen mastery camos rather than nine. The extra four are the Pyroclast camos, which come from Weapon Prestige rather than from the normal mastery chain. Whether you count them is a naming question, not a disagreement about what is in the game.
