Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live at midnight ET on 6 November 2026 (9 PM PT on 5 November) on every platform. It is also when Warzone moves over to Modern Warfare 4. Here is everything Activision has confirmed.

Multiplayer: three new maps, more at mid-season

Season 1 opens with Backstab and Canyon, both new medium 6v6 maps, and a reimagined Shoot House. Mid-season brings Ministry, Overflow and further maps not yet named. A fixed Kill Block: Crash layout also joins the Core playlists.

Our full MW4 map list has every map from launch onward.

New and returning modes

  • Possession (from 29 October) and Infected (from 30 October) arrive before the season for Halloween.
  • Grind returns: collect dog tags and bank them to score.
  • Drop Zone returns: hold a rotating zone that drops killstreaks.
  • Gauntlet 1v1 arrives as part of the Wager Match event.
  • Counter Attack and a new twist on Team Deathmatch are due at mid-season.

Four new weapons

  • Cronen Osprey (Assault Rifle): Battle Pass tier 16. Activision says only the M4 matches its fire rate.
  • CSG-35 (SMG): Battle Pass tier 36, at 1,200 rounds per minute, the fastest in its class.
  • JAK 12 (full-auto Shotgun): an event reward later in the season.
  • ZLR Talonhawk (melee axe): an event reward later in the season.

New attachments include Apex attachments for the Hyeon Burst and the Kastov 762, an M16 Burst conversion for the M4, and more.

New guns mean new weapon levels and new camo grinds. If you are chasing mastery camos, new weapons arriving mid-season can change your plan.

DMZ: the X01 black site

DMZ adds X01, a former weapons facility on the edge of Hajin, seized by North Korean forces. It is a maze of tunnels, labs, production lines and a sealed Deep Vault. Ghost runs a new set of DMZ Orders inside it, and Activision warns that the facility closes off its exfils as you go, so know where your nearest one is.

Also new for DMZ:

  • New Boss Board targets: two Lieutenants, Knuckle and The Wrench, and Commanders including The Captain (a Juggernaut with an elite guard) and a patrolling Wheelson.
  • Threat Briefing events: take parts from a battle tank in Hajin, or pieces of The Captain's helmet in X01, for rewards on exfil.
  • Resupply Run: trade found items for gear like Self Revives and 3-Plate Carriers.

Activision lists X01's new enemies, items and equipment as classified, so expect surprises.

Events

  • Wager Match (Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone): earn Trophies for attachments, a blueprint, a camo and an Operator skin.
  • Weapon Camo events: play to unlock camos.
  • Joint Fire: an XP boost that grows with your squad size, with rewards including 2XP tokens.

Battle Pass and BlackCell

The Battle Pass is now a single 100-tier track with 100+ rewards, including the two new base weapons for free. It costs 1,100 COD Points, or 2,400 COD Points for the bundle. New this season: a catch-up system that brings premium owners who fall behind up to the reward matching the current day of the season, up to day 50, guaranteeing 50+ rewards. BlackCell is sold separately and comes with the Vault Edition. The new Operators are Blix (Battle Pass) and XERO (BlackCell).

Warzone

Season 1 brings Hajin and Zodiac to Warzone, the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island, and full Modern Warfare 4 integration. Activision is posting the full Warzone roadmap on 2 November. Until the season starts, Warzone stays on its current version; more on the switch.

What about Ranked Play?

Activision's Season 1 announcement does not mention Ranked Play, and no date has been given.

Get ahead before it lands

The new guns reset the grind for anyone chasing camos. If you want your current weapons maxed or your camos done before the season starts, we offer weapon leveling, mastery camos and bot lobbies. Activision does not allow boosting or account sharing, and it can suspend, ban or reset accounts that break its rules. No one can honestly promise that will never happen; our Terms of Service say the same.
